Project Based Learning in Science and STEM

With NGSS coming out we know there will be more of an emphasis on Project Based Learning and the integration of STEM. Here are a couple of sites for you to check out.

CASES Online (Creating Active Student Engagement in the Sciences):  http://www.cse.emory.edu/cases/index.cfm - CASES Online is a collection of inquiry-based lessons to engage K-12 and undergraduate students in exploring the science behind real-world problems. Through CASES, you can transform your students into motivated investigators, self-directed and life-long learners, critical thinkers and keen problem solvers. Our cases are grounded in Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Investigative Case-Based Learning (ICBL), and related student-centered pedagogies.

Also check out this post from Helen Reina that has multiple souces for project ideas:  : http://kidseducationalwebsites.blogspot.com/2011/01/pbl-examples-of-science-lesson-ideas.html

I've also posted a downloaded handout on STEM Resources under the Handout section on the right.  Have fun with STEM and don't forget to send in your video of your creative teaching idea.  You might win a STEMIE:   www.mheonline.com/stemie - see the post below.
